パンクロックのカリスマTim Armstrong (Rancid, Transplants, Operation Ivy) による、日本初となるアートショー THE WARS END 開催！
2014年、LAのSubliminal Projectsにて開催された自身初の個展Avenues and Alleywaysでは作品が完売、続くキャリア2度目の個展の開催地として、思い入れのあるここ東京を選びました。本展では、1995年にリリースされたRancidの代表作であり、パンクの金字塔とされるアルバム …And Out Come The Wolves の20周年を記念したシリーズ作品などを含む、40点を超える新作を発表予定。また、アーティスト自身の手でサインとナンバーが記された限定エディションのシルクスクリーンプリント作品も、THE blank GALLERYのみにてエクスクルーシブで販売されます。 本展THE WARS ENDで展示されるのは、ティム・アームストロングの音楽制作に対する姿勢が反映したスケッチ、ドローイング、ペインティング、ミクストメディア作品など。彼の作品を古くから評価し、Avenues and Alleywaysではキュレーションを務めたストリートアーティストのShepard Faireyは、「ティムの音楽には欠かす事のできない、誠実で生々しい衝動、D.I.Y.なパンク精神は、彼の動的で詩的なアート作品においても明白に映し出されている」と賞賛。シルクスクリーンやステンシルの技法など、様々な素材や題材を通してキャンバス上に広がる、ティム・アームストロングの日常や詩の世界観、パンクの美学を感じていただきたい。

Tim Armstrong: 1980年代、伝説的なハードコア/スカ/パンクバンド Operation Ivy を結成。解散後、1991年に Rancid を結成し、90年代のメインストリームにおけるパンクロックリバイバルに大きく貢献、商業的にも最も成功したパンクバンドとして歴史に名を刻む。近年ではパンクミュージシャンという顔のほか、ソングライター、アーティスト、ディレクター、詩人、レコードプロデューサー、インディレーベルオーナーなど、数々の肩書きを持ち、多方面で活躍する。 アームストロングの音楽性は、パンクロックの領域をも越えて多大な影響を残している。2003年、プラチナディスクとなったPinkのデビューアルバムTry This では8曲を共作し、シングル曲Troubleはグラミー賞を獲得。また、2013年にはレゲエ界の大御所Jimmy Cliffの8年ぶりのアルバムRebirthをプロデュースし、再びグラミー賞を獲得している。そのほかの活動として、Joe Strummer (The Clash)やCypress Hillとのコラボレーション、ソロのサイドプロジェクトTim Timebomb & Friendsや、Travis Barker (Blink-182)らと活動するTransplantsなど、数々の功績を残す。 2014年秋、Rancidとして5年ぶり、通算8枚目のアルバムとなる…Honor Is All We Knowをリリース。2015年3月、ニューアルバムを引っさげPUNKSPRINGのヘッドライナーとして来日（3月26日-27日 Zepp Nagoya、28日 神戸ワールド記念ホール、29日 幕張メッセ）。また、25日には単独公演（赤坂ブリッツ）も開催。

１３時より開場し、一般公開となります。その後、１８時に一旦クローズし、１９時にレセプションスタートとなります。

残念ですが、Timが来場する予定はございません。会場のキャパシティの問題と、展示作品の安全性を考慮しての事ですので、Timに会いたい方はライブ会場へ。

シルクスクリーン作品のほか、展示される全てのオリジナル作品がご購入可能です。すでに海外からも多数の問い合わせが来ており、世界中のコレクターやファンが狙っています。Timのオリジナル作品が日本で手に入るチャンスはまずないので、この機会をお見逃しなく！

Following his highly successful, sold-out, solo art show, Avenues and Alleyways, Tim Armstrong brings his second solo exhibition to Tokyo with The Wars End. Featuring over forty pieces of new and original works of art, this body of work includes the seminal series celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Rancid album …And Out Come The Wolves. The Wars End features sketches, drawings, paintings and mixed media canvases that mirror Tim’s approach to music making. “The D.I.Y. punk ethos of honesty and emphasis on raw instinct that is so integral to Tim’s music is clearly evident in his tremendous body of gestural and poetic visual art ”says long-time admirer of Tim’s music and artwork, Shepard Fairey. The exhibition covers a wide range of subject matter and incorporates Armstrong’s most iconic punk rock aesthetics consisting of: silkscreen techniques, stencils, figures in Tim’s life, and his famed poetic lyrics sprawled across drawings and raw canvases. A series of limited edition prints will be exclusively released at THE blank GALLERY the night of the opening. All prints are numbered and hand signed by Tim Armstrong.
Tim Armstrong is a Grammy Award-winning musician, songwriter, artist, director, poet, record producer and independent label owner. During the 1980s he served in several hardcore and ska punk bands, most notably the band Operation Ivy. In 1991, he formed the seminal punk rock band Rancid, which is credited with the mainstream revival of punk rock in the mid-1990s, and is one the most commercially successful and respected punk bands of all time. Armstrong’s musical influence extends far beyond the punk rock realm -in 2003 he co-wrote eight songs with platinum selling artist Pink for her album Try This, which included the Grammy Award winning single Trouble. Tim grabbed another Grammy in 2013 for his work on Jimmy Cliff’s album Rebirth. Other notable collaborations have included Joe Strummer, Cypress Hill, the Tim Timebomb & Friends series, and Travis Barker of Blink 182 (of which he has released 3 records with their band the Transplants), just to name a few. In 2014, Rancid released its 8th album … Honor Is All We Know and coming back to Japan to headline PUNKSPRING 2015.
